1. TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF. WHAT DO YOU DO AND WHAT IS YOUR MAIN DANCE STYLE YOU WORK IN?

I am originally from Bermuda. I graduated from London Contemporary Dance School BA Hons. I then moved to Amsterdam to perform. I went back home (to Bermuda) where I worked freelance teaching Hip Hop classes and giving back to the youth in Bermuda. I am the founder and artistic director of my company BDBLAQ Dance. Tap fusion is my main style

2. WHY DANCE? WHAT OR WHO INITIALLY INSPIRED YOU TO BEGIN YOUR DANCE JOURNEY?

Dance is my first love. My mum saw that I had a gift from 4 years old. I became inspired by an American dance company De Kiss Company. I liked how they used the space. They were amazing dancers and that made me want to take dance serious.

3.  WHERE WAS YOU 5 YEARS AGO? (E.G. CAREER, DANCE LIFESTYLE, JOURNEY)

I was in Amsterdam training with De Kiss Moves. I was training with the company for about 2 1/2 years. I wanted to pursue a career as an independent artist. I felt that it was time for me to move on. I wanted a change for myself, a change for my body and a change of scenery. So I decided to finish my contract and I went back home. Then I freelanced for real.

4.  WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS TIME?

In the next 5 years I definitely see myself and my company, BDBLAQ, going on tour, getting commissions, getting connections with different organisations. And of course giving back the dance community and dance groups. Since living back in the UK I have noticed not a lot of dance schools not get enough dance. Especially for the males. So that is why I feel to give back to these communities. It’s definitely one of my grills for the next 5 years.

I would like to employ the dances in my company. At the moment I have 4 dances including myself but in the next 5 years... I want to Direct and choreograph pieces and get my dancers to perform and teach workshops. I also want them to get noticed too. I am passionate about giving back to my employees. I want them to get just as much connections as I would. So that is my 5 year plan.

I believe in dreams and I believe in God. At this point I just have to keep striving. I really want to push the whole tap fusion vibe.
